Default ....hesitation?

greetings. i'm very much an amatuer when it comes to my vehicle, so please don't mind the elementary terminology. [at least i know more than my bf though... his honda was overheating earlier today and he didn't even know how to pop the hood!]

my manual 95 eclipse gs is acting funny, mostly at cruising speeds in the highway when i'm in 4th or 5th. although i have my foot steady on the gas pedal, it feels like it's intermitently not getting enough juice. i haven't noticed a change in the rpms but definately a change in acceleration and you can also hear the engine "back off" a bit. when i'm gradually increasing speed this happens for about 1 second every 5-15 seconds.

also, i just recently changed the fuel filter out and put some fuel treatment stuff in the tank, but my car is having trouble starting when i get down to 1/4 a tank.

and my gas mileage sucks... 21mpg at last check... all highway miles.

any suggestions?

try plugs/wires if you havent changed them in a while, thats what it might be. I had a similar problem in my gst, changed the plugs and it was all good

plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter... how many miles are on the car? and it sounds like you need a new fuel pump too.... sounds like it is going bad...
