I have no idea. That is something that changes a lot from shop to shop.

Believe it or not, changing the motor for an exact replacement will be easier and less labour

No. he was saying he was going to be able to pick up the wrecked car for next to nothing. So i dont think he will rip you off... i defenatly dont think he will ask anything near 600. The rest will be labour

I have an engine i really want to get rid of. But it would be a matter of whether you want to do the 6-bolt swap.

i was just about to say that TheEngineer has a 6 bolt for sale. you mentioned that you were looking to make your car as fast as possible... well he has the motor you want if you want power.

Thats not cost effective though. Although more reliable, doing the 6 bolt swap is costly. Not something he has the time or cash for.

Well for 600 bucks you are kind of limited. Hopefully Josh will give you that motor for a decent price. After that, you need to call around at shops asking for a flat rate to swap the motors. Making sure you tell them that they are exactly the same motor and will drop right in.

well these are the parts involved in the swap
Parts List
·
1G CAS (91-92 Optical Effect, 93-94 Hall Effect)
·
1G Oil Cooler (90-92 MD 157670 6bolt water cooled oil cooler)
·
1G Water Pump
·
1G Oil Pump/Front Case
·
1G Timing Belt necessities
·
2G Engine mount (modified) use 2G engine mount trimmed, with 1G tensioner arm
·
1G Timing Belt Covers (modified)
·
1G 90-92 6-bolt block (with whatever internals)
·
1G 6-bolt Flywheel
·
2G Starter Mounting bracket
·
1G Water Pipe
·
1G lower radiator hose
·
1G Thermostat housing/ Water Neck
·
1G 6-bolt oil pan Balance shafts (remove them or keep em, its up to you, we take them out)
·
2G Alternator
·
2G Power Steering Pump
·
2G A/C 2G Belts
But like sebba said this isnt something that would be done for $600. And even dropping in a new 7-bolt block i dont know if that would be possible either with that money. Most places will charge around 1-2k to do it, with parts. I guess if you got the parts cheap it might be close. But it really depends on the shop. Also remember you get what you pay for. Emonz had a new engine dropped in his 3g GS and the took forever and did a terrible job. The pinched AC lines and the clean up was crap.
