Default I think my turbo ate something

So after work I took off the intake and tired to find a problem. And I did. The turbo does have a bit of shaft play but I couldnt belive how jagged and chipped the turbine's where, like it was eating away at something. How the hell did that happen or what does that mean? Well anyways, I guess I need a new turbo, any suggestions?

Is it possible that it could be causing problems with my AFR being rich at wot?

YES that could be your problem exactly.

Maybe a stone or something got in there... it has happened before!

What are you going to replace it with?

I dont know yet. I would probably replace it with a big 16G and get some 660cc densos and a fmic.

But I'm concerned about what got into my motor and how much damage was done. I'm also concerned that may not be the only problem, but I dont really know. My transmission syncros are getting pretty bad too. I really don't know what I'm going to do. Eclipse season is just about over anyway.

Thought about selling it or trading it in, and getting a car with a warranty that I wont have to worry about for about 5 years, theres just not much out there that I'm intrested in thats in my price range. my buddy who works at a GM dealership keeps telling me to come test drive the Cobalt SS, but I'm alittle skeptical.

What turbo/setup would you guys get if you had a choice?

it depends on how far you want to go. You could go with a 16g or simpler with a T28.

Unfortuneatly I have absolutly no money to get this thing fixed right now. I just paid a car bill and a insurance bill, and I need new tires, breaks, shocks and springs. So basically its done for the season.

If I keep the car, I'm just going to get a 16g since I'm already setup for one. I was looking at the turbo summary chart, and I dont think the t28 could get me up to 300 horespower.

How long would a brand new 16g turbo last approx? not an ebay one.

depends because if its not cooled down after shut off it will decrease the life and if something gets in it like a rock it will decrease the life a lot though. not an exact mileage but stock turbos last a long time. (i know your talking about a 16g)
