That's the windage tray. Its main purpose is tokeep the oil in yoursump rather than having it splash around at high rpm's. You are right, I haven't seen these in the 6 bolt. I know they are in the late 94 4G63 7bolt (n/a) motors.

this is a 4G63 turbo from a 93 GSX that I'm currently rebuilding. There's not tray nor any mounting points for one.

Yeah six bolts don't have them. I wondered the same thing when I pulled my engines.

I know the feeling. These toys of ours are also money pits. My wife keeps telling me that I need to start selling parts; not buy more. I currently have 2 6-bolts and 1 7-bolt motor all torn apart; not to mention all the "other" spare parts I've acquired throughout the years.

Here's a pic of a 7bolt that rebuilt for the guy during the xmas break. Hopefully he'll pay attention to his oil pressure this time around.

Specs:
[ul][*]'99 7-bolt motor w/brass freeze plugs.[*]wiseco pistons .20 over w/eagle rods and ACL bearings.[*]heads been ported/polished equip with ferrea valvetrain components.[*]balance shafts have been removed.[*]arp head studs[/ul]
