Default odd problem

99 eclipse RS
auto

I've been having a weird problem lately. Its happened like once before, but in the past 5 days its happened like 3 times. The first thing that happened, both the first time it happened - about 2 months ago - and right before the first of the last 3 recent times; was the battery light coming on and I had to go under the hood and detach the battery and re-attach it. The engine would start again, but after turning the car off and restarting it a few times, the car would start to drive oddly. It would feel like the car has cruise control on - which the RS doesn't have. The car would accelerate slowly on its own and pretty much stop at 40 mph. The engine idles rather hard, around 1500/2000 RPMs.

This goes on for a while, then eventually stops. Once it stopped while driving on the drive that it started on, but usually it won't stop until I've shut the car down and started it again about 3 times or so. I have no idea whats up with it. I just replaced the battery 3 days ago because it went dead, and it just happened again tonight, so it wasn't the battery itself.

any help would be appreciated

You need an alternator buddy.
Its not charging the battery, which is why your battery light is coming on.
The car is running off of straight battery juice, therefore sending the electrical system haywire.
Replaace your alternator ( a fuuuuun job on a 420A) and charge your battery. The problem should then be gone.

So you know how fun it is removing both belts, taking apart the whole ride side suspension, pulling the axle, wiggling out the alternator, then doing that all reverse?

It sucks. lol
