rpm problem

no my light isnt on but u think i should still get it computer checked?will disconnectin the battery make the engine light leave if so will da code still be in computer

Since there was no background about your car, I would say to check the relays on the firewall. The first one is fuel relay, the second is the ASD, and the third should be the EATX relay (transmission relay). Have you checked your fluid? If not, check it and note the smell and color and...look for pieces of metal. If it's not any of those above, the last three things that it might be will be costly...the TCM, tranny solenoids, and the tranny itself. That's assuming that it is in limp mode.
BTW OP, limp mode is when the transmission stays in 2nd gear. That is a safety for you tranny and it's only to "limp" you home or a garage, so if you're driving around with it like that....yikes.
