Semi Newbie seeking help
i suggest you find out how bad the damage is first. if it jus a valve problem you can take the head off and have it fixed. i also sugest you stick a turbo back on that. i don't know how fast he told you that car was, but i cant imagine a 4g63 being even remotely fast without a turbo, they have no bottom end power at all until the turbo spools up and the compression is only 8.5 or 7.8 if its a 1stgen block
K first he never told me how fast it was I wasn't worried about that cuz I planned on rebuilding the engine myself anyways. Second the original engine WAS turbo but he blew that one the engine in it now wasn't turbo he said. So I will pull the head off it and strip it down have it checked for cracks and warping then start rebuilding it for a turbo setup. What kind of turbo do you guys recommend?? I'm thinking Garrett I DEFINATELY don't want the stock bolt on.
if you dont want a stock turbo id always reccomend a 16g. theyre only about $500 for the basic, $600 for a big 16g and they can easily take you into low 12's/high 11's, while still remaining very streetable.
K cool now what about the tranny?? It's an auto from a '96 w overdrive (That's what I'm guessing the button is on the side at least) should I go with that tranny and will it be able to handle the extra power or do I need a beefier manual type?
