you dont need anything crazy for auto tranny. You can just get normal tranny fluid from any auto parts store and it will be fine

Wait, if you have the 420a with the a604 tranny, then stick with the Mitsu ATF. The Chrysler a604 is very finicky with it's fluids. If you do happen to put in any general fluid, six months from now, you will most likely go into limp mode with any "spirited" driving. If not limp mode, then you will have issues with shifting. Been there done that, don't follow suit.

yea. well i wana stick with the mitsu ATF because i hear its smoother than the the chrysler and i dont really wana put some random trans fluid in. to stay with the mitsu fluid do i have to go to the dealer? and is there a filter i have to change too for the tranny fluid?

I assume they're both the same since either is recommended...Mitsu for the Eclipse and Chrysler for the Avenger/Sebring. Both cars have the 420a and the a604. Your choice really. I suggest calling both dealerships to find the less costly of the two.
The filter is a good thing to change out, but be sure to have the tranny flushed too. Not all shops will flush and change the filter, most do one or the other. Weird I know, but I've ran into that issue, so be sure to ask if they do both.
Clearing the pan of tranny fluid isn't the same as flushing the system and yes, those are dealer only fluids.

You can change the filter at home, but you'll need a machine to flush the old fluid out.

ATF+3 is recommended for 95-97 a604, but the ATF+4 is fine from what I've seen and read.
Just a note, ATF+3 is what that tranny started out with. Your call. I'd stick with ATF+3, but that's just me.
