Default Turbo Questions

Hey Evryone!
I was reading the great sticky on turbos however I have some questions. 1: is there a site that can breakdown everything into pics so I can understand a bit better[sm=dontgetit.gif]. I didn't see anything on vfaq.com 2: I have a 97 GSX Auto and I am debating on getting a big 16G or a 60-1. That is what my 'tuner mechanic' is saying. However I don't know what he is talking about. So I am hoping you guys can help me by posting up links so I can research and compare these turbos because I know that with certain turbos you need to have special manifolds wastegates etc etc. Thank You in advance.

i would get an Evo III 16g turbo, injectors and fuel pump, a wide band o2 sensor and a SAFCII so that you can tune your air fuel ratio. Just my opinion.

I am planning on getting a 255 fuel pump and injectors a wideband and safc2. I have alot planned and researched out. I am not as knowlageable with turbos wastegates and manifold 'combinations'. However, when you say EVO 16g turbo. Who makes that so I can research it. Here is an example for the 60-1 http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.ph...1-1111,48-2173 hopefully this link works..lol Now, from my understanding the .48 a/r size means it is going to have a better quicker spool which means more boost for mid to high range. Which is what I want. Now the wheel size it is has some choices which I don't really understand..lol. From the post sticky on turbos if I choose the super 60 how much boost will I be looking at. Also with this turbo what exhaust mani should I get and wastegate?

255lph is too big for the stock fuel pressure ragulator. you will get inconsistant a/f ratios becuase the volume is going to over run the fpr.

Your boost is determaned by the waste gate, not the size of the turbo. You can run any turbo at any psi depending on the waste gate. Most are pre set to 15 psi.

I would go with the evoII16g, its cheaper then most, its easier to install, and its a proven method for 12 second runs.

I wouldnt say that. be cause you really cant. turbos themselves have limits. the EVO 16G will only hold 23PSI after that you can run 25 but it will taper off and settle at 22\23 everytime. and that is also not a good thing to do to a turbo. Always know the effeciency range of it because it you exceed it your just risking blowing your turbo up and not getting cool EGTs

All this info is great stuff! What I am thinking of doing is do a 60-1 turbo from forced performance 40mm teil wastegate and a t3 tubular exhaust manifold when I get to that point. I have pretty much settled on that now.

I was speaking in terms of the lower end of the boost scale. 2insane asked how much boost would a 60t run and that was an attempt to explain... lol

Anyways didnt know that was where the evoIII toped out at. I dont think the hot egt's is what would blow a turbo up though... well not saying that they cant. I think if it egt's got high enough you would melt a piston before you melted a turbo. From my understanding a turbo is alot like a gear on a bike, you can only pedal it so fast, and after that it over spins and wont make anymore power.
