Unhappy Unusual Problem, please help troubleshoot

I have been searching everywhere for an answer to my problem with my 1995
Eclipse RS-non-turbo and cannot find an answer...I hope someone can at least help me know where to start.

I just got it back from the shop that had it, he had it for six months and never really looked at it, he insisted that it's the motor (because that's what everyone told him) and that the timing belt went bad, but I don't agree with him and here's why.

I bought the car last Feb 08, in ran perfectly. When it started getting warm outside the car started to stutter while driving, it never stalled out. It would take a minute or so and it would pull out of it and be fine. It did this a few times a week.

One day, the car was running great, I went to a friend's house and shut the car off..came back about an hour later and it wouldn't start. This was last August and it still hasn't started....it did try to turn over and will still try to turn over...the timing belt is intact and is seemingly a new belt. I don't see how it could need a head replaced or need a new motor when the car wasn't even running down the road when it wouldn't start again, it was parked.

I am thinking/hoping that it is something electrical/computer or a sensor...any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. It seems that noone around my town knows anything about fixing an eclipse and doesn't even want to attempt to

I know this isn't a lot to go on, but this is the only problem that it ever displayed.

+1 with estraw. pull all the spark plugs and Disable ignition called a static compression test. Static meaning non running.

definately do a compression test, and while ur spark plugs are out go ahead and test them to make sure all 4 are sparking, which it sounds like they will be but they are already out, might as well try it
