Short rams prevent hydro lock, cheaper, do pretty much the same thing as a cold air intake their just not a long.

has anyone here ever experienced hydro lock? by my calculations, and experiences, my car would have to be submerged up to the bottom of the engine in water to actually hydro lock...

Actually my brother hydrolocked his 3G. had a CAI and drove through a rather deep puddle. I even have the pics of the aftermath (He ended up seperating the piston head from the rod the piston was still in the cylinder SOMEWHERE the rod and wristpin shot through the front AND the back of the block shattering BOTH the oil pan bent as did the crank. This was all on the #1 cylinder I believe. I can't remember the # order of any engine LOL they're all different LOL.). I'll try to find the pics and post them when I do.
