i just bought my eclipse a few days ago and after driving it a while the check engine light has come on with a cylinder 3 misfire it starts very rough and seems like it will idle but as soon as you let out the clutch it wants to stall i looked all over the internet but couldnt find any specific fix for it any help would be great Thank you

 

sounds like bad plug wires to me

 

all the wires were new ,thats what i thought it was at first also so we did a compression test and found that cylinder 1 was at 150 psi 2 was at 120 3 was 60 and 4 145. so i think we are going to have to pull the head apart and rebuild it? what do you think?

yea that sounds like a bad valve then

 

yeah we got an engine guy looking at the head he said it looks like it was over heating and strong feeling i have to replace a few valves

 

yea that is what i would suspect to. So your gonna want to replace the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, head gasket, valve stem seals, valve cover gasket at least. There may be some stuff im missing but those are the important stuff while you are in there

 

yep there were 3 bad valves and i should be getting the head back today all the piston rings look like they arent an issue so im hoping my troubles stop here
