97 eclipes...rough idle
I have a 97 eclipes that was bought recently, working fine was driving it and all of a sudden it started to do crazy things such as turn on windsheild wipers, radio, no rpms on gauge..... It basicly drained the battery so I changed the battery and alternator and would run but not idle. When it is idling, it idles very very low and misses and lights are dim but when accelorate, it brightens up and drives fine but don't idle right and no charge again out of alternator. Any ideas? The voltage regualtor is built into the alt isn't it? Any help would be appriated.

Are you sure the alternator is charging correctly? Yes, the voltage regulator is in the alternator....in the 4g63 motored cars. The 420a motored cars have a PCM and that's where the regulator is.
I see that you've check the alt's output, good, but is that voltage from the alternator's power terminal or the alt's fusible link? Which leads me to state checking both the battery and alternator fusible links for voltage, both should have power on them at all times. I would have an alternator shop check it's output, Autozone has no clue what to look for but 14volts. Another question. Where did you get your new alt?
What motor do you have, for starters?

Thanks so much for the help. Yes it is the 4g63 turbo engine. Yes it is a alt from Advanced Auto. Could it be computer problems or maybe a grounding problem in the wiring harness. Just weird that it happened so sudden and for no reason while driving it. I will check the output on the alternator again to check it again at the terminal and beyond. Thanks
