Battery or Alternator 2010 Outlander
Battery light came on and did a variety of flickering, going off, staying on steady and showed "charging system service required" until eventually all systems showed need service (abs, tires, air bags) then no radio reception (static only) and speedometer not working. Pulled into driveway, stalled and won't start.
Question is, is this just a dead battery or the alternator. I thought that if the car was running the battery isn't needed so why would it stall because of a dead battery? I am 1 hour from dealer so trying for a little info before I have it towed. Thanks.

All the juice come from the battery at all time.
The alternator is just charging the battery and not supplying the system.
An internal failure of the battery will do what you have described.
Battery are warrantied 100% including labor for 24 months and 50% plus free labor for an extra year after that your on your own.
Before going inspect the connection at the battery for sign of damage ol looseness also the battery ground at the end of the negative wire.
