Default Eclipse charging problem

I have a 96 Eclipse with a 2.0 in it that we just replaced. Every sice i did so i have been having a charging problem. The lead that comes from the battery to the fuse block then to the altenator will get hot and blow the 120 amp fuse when connected. I have checked all my leads for breaks and grounding and have even ran new wires from the fuse block to the altenator. The altenator was checked and is right at 14.5 amps. The only other thing i can think of is that the brain is shot from sitting in the car uncovered in the weather for a month but i dont know how to check that. Can some one please hep me?
