Default Engine wont start Lancer GLI 1,6 1998

Hi from Norway!

My girlfriend has a 1998 model Mitsubishi Lancer 1,6 GLI (it looks like a station wagon). The engine has been most reliable and suddenly it was unable to start this morning. I am trying to impress her by fixing the car, but she is not impressed yet

The engine cranks over without problems, but the engine shows no signs of starting.

What I have checked so far:

All spark plugs are firing just fine.
The fuel pump is working.
The battery is in perfect condition.
The start engine is obviously working since it is cranking over perfectly.
I can smell gasoline in the exhaust-pipe, which tells me it is drawing fuel into the sylinders.

I have also used what we call "start gas" in the air-intake (I removed the air-filter and sprayed the gas in there) which should have made the engine start if there was a problem with the fuel-distribution.

Does anyone have any suggestions to what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance from cold Norway
