Default Hood Release Broke!

The last time I had my oil changed is the last time I looked under my hood. The hood release just clicks and I'm not sure just what it is I need to pry my way into, (under the hood). I can't find anyone willing to help, (fear of foreign cars?) I need real information from experience. Anyone out there know how to get under the hood without completely taking my car apart?

My girlfriend has a 92 RS, and if I remember correctly, you should be able to get to the bolts that hold the latch onto the hood by going undernealth the car and using about 2 and a half feet of extensions. Remove the 2 bolts, that will leave the latch attached, and allow you to open the hood, then manually release the latch. Now replace the latch / bolts. It can be a pain, you may need to use a universal to get the correct angle. shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes.

Ask a friend to put some pressure on the hood as you pull the release handle.
Other possibility is that you maybe able to get at the cable attached to the release handle and give it a tug with grips.
Old VW Beetles had this problem and pressure on the trunk cover usually worked.
Don't forget to make the necessary adjustments to the cable before re closing!!
