I have a 2000 galant 4 cylinder. As I accelerate I begin to hear this high pitched whisteling noise. The more I accelerate, the louder it seems to get. It almost sounds like the whisteling noise theold fashioned coffee pots used to have. If I am driving I hear it. How ever while i am moving, if i take my foot off the accelerator, the noise goes away. But the second I accelerate again I hear it. Any ideas people? It is not super loud, how ever it does get annoying and to tune it out I just put the radio up. Does anyone else have or have had this problem? What was the fix? How much?

 

Like air getting caught in something whistle? So the faster you go the higher the pitch of the sounds is as if maybe there is more air pressure having to works it's way out? Can't tell you what it might be but I'd get a buddy to run the gas while you hang out engine bay and see if you can narrow down the sounds location. Better info will help figure it out.

 

Check the air inlet that comes from the air filiter housing up and mount to the radiator support. the plastic retainers fail and the inlet sucks up against the hood and whistle.
