I have a 2011 RVR and have unfortunanetly a very high pitched sound coming from something??? When the vehicles running you can hear it very clearly. It is present with the audio and climate controls off. I took it to the dealer and they verified the sound but couldn't find it. They thought it may be coming from the ballasts for the HID lights??? Anyone else experienced this noise? Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

 

I don't own this car but I am interested in it. Does the noise happen when idle as well? I read some reviews that the CVT makes the noise.

Do you have the AWD version? How do you find the power? I think the 2L is a bit underpower for its weight. Should have 2.4L or turbo 2L.

 

Hi Paul. The dealer has told me they suspect the noise is coming from the HID ballasts for the headlights. The noise is present at any idle/speed and does not change with the rpm, just a constant annoying sound the gradually works its way into your brain! Yes we have the AWD model and we have been very happy with it thus far. If you drive it in the normal drive mode it seems quite modest just putting along but if you drive it in the sport mode it zips around remarkably fast and likes to cruise at around 140kph. A turbo would be great and I'm sure there's a lot more in this engine than is being allowed to come out, but I'll take the fuel economy until gas comes back down to a realistic number.
