Getting about 10-15mpg, is my custom intake causing this?

The thing that my friend noted earlier today as the most likely possibility is that valve I have an arrow to in one of the pictures, I think #2...there was a little bit of suction even while the engine was idling, he said that something was supposed to be connecting to that ...what do you think?

AAAH IM SO STUPID. Its a 420a. They dont have MAF sensors. (the black box) sorry!

Well i would reset the ECU and see how that goes first
So I just disconnect the negative, turn ignition to 'on,' and let it sit for a while?

If you noticed suction from it... then find out where its coming from and replace that hose. Looks like a vacume hose to me

OK, I'm gonna do the reset. I'm almost afraid to disconnect the negative because half the copper strands are broken off, the thing is barely even connected as it is...lol

I dont know what its supposed to be connected to. Almost impossible to tell.

This is what I mean (something I saw on another board)...

"That valve with the arrow... there is supposed to be a hose which connects to your intake... I am not sure if it is really necessary or if that would be causing you bad gas mileage."

Hmmmm i cant make any sense out of that.

Just as long as the negative doesnt come off your okay. Dont be afraid of it... it wont shock you.... well it shouldnt lol
