Default Kenwood won't turn on.

Hello, I have a 1998 eclipse GST. My problem is that my kenwood head unit will not turn on. I went to go play a cd, and then all of a sudden, the lights in it went off on the display, and I could not get it to turn on again. A loud popping noise was constantly coming on over the speakers. I checked the wires on the amp, and they are all good, but I had to unplug the thick one to stop the noise. I don't know what to do. Also, About a week ago I noticed that my radio would turn off randomly when I was driving, and then a few seconds later, it would turn back on. This happened about three times.

How is the current on your car? do youhave problem starting it up?, if you have no current problems the issue is gonna be on the unit itself... if youre tech savvy you can pull it out and check to see if by any chance it got unwired somehow... but then again if youre not taking it to the pros would do

The current on my car is good. Starts up real easy. All interior/exterior lights are strong. Also,When I drive, there is a buzzing noise that comes from the speakers. The noise sort of mimicks the engine, so when i accelerate the pitch from the speakers gets higher.

I'm assuming that this was not installed professionaly. Popping sound is most likely an intermitent ground wire at the head unit, causing the amp to kick on and off when the radio circuit is completed and the amp turns on. The noise you're hearing is induced alternator whine, which is caused by electro-magnetic interference entering the signal path from a high-current power wire. Basically, if it were a car that came into my shop, I'd tell you I'd call you when it was done and to just leave your credit card with me, cuz I'm tearing the SOB completely apart and redoing everything you touched. Basically, you need to pull the head unit and confirm EVERY wire top to bottom, solder all connections and make sure you have a good clean chasis ground point. Make sure that your signal wires are run down the opposite side of the car as the amp wire, and keep the RCA wires and power wires (including your ground wire) as far away from each other as possible at the amp. Make sure every power-carrying wire is fused appropriatly and you should be good.
