Default Advice on buying a 3000GT

I am 17 and I am looking to buy a 3000GT. I will be working this summer fulltime and making a little over 11.50 an hour and I hope by the end of the summer I will have around 6.5-7.5k. Assuming my parents chip in sum money to help me get a 3000gt after seeing i worked 40hrs a week for the entire summer and that I need a car, hopefully ill have 10-14k to spend on a 3000GT. I was just wondering what I could/should buy with that kind of budget. Shoudl I buy a 3000GT with alot of mileage on it and still have some leftover money to put some work into it myself, or should I just spend all my money on one with less mileage on it. All these questions are probablyt stupid, but plz forgive me, my name clearly shows I have no clue what I am talking about and all this rambling has probably made every1 on this entire forum stupider

The Dodge Stealth is IDENTICAL and a lil bit cheaper. It also has a mitsubishi motor. It has minor differences like basically just the name on the back. But otherwise their both awesome and u cant tell em apart unless u look at the back. So the stealth might be a better option for u right now... i think insurance is more on the 3000gt. And those cars are good even with high mileage, like u'll have no problems, maybe just the transmission needin to be replaced after a while...and regular maintenance.. Just make sure that the timing belt is in good shape, and anyway most dealers provide warranty even if the cars are used.. (its mitsubishi..the best make) lol have fun

In my opinion, if you want a 3000gt, then get one. Noob said that the stealth looks identical, well.... I don't find that true at all. The whole car looks different in my opinion. You can pick up a first gen 3kgt for dirt cheap and there is usually not much wrong with them. Most of the time you can tell if it is a good car because with these cars, they are usually beat the crap out of or treated nicely. Even a second gen can be cheap and low on maintenance. Just TAKE YOUR TIME and don't buy the first one you see. I did that and I got a 3rd gen, ('99) but I got REALLY lucky because I didn't know crap about the 3kgt. I thought they were rear wheel drive before I bought mine. Just take your time and a nice one will come by.

You should buy a Eclipse GSX or GST instead, you can get more power out of it for less money(parts for the 3000 are expensive,I know from experience) also if you're looking to boost your car pretty high then the stock 4G63(eclipse) can handle alot more p.s.i than the 6G72(3000GT)

I'm currently posting my 1993 Mitsubishi 300GT VR-4 for sale. I think it might fit your budget because its only listed at $8,950/OBO. I already have some mods done to it. All you really need is add a boost controller, upgraded fuel system, and upgraded turbos and you should be running in the mid 400hp. If you want I know a guy who works on VR-4s and he should be able to get the 13G turbos for about $1,300.00 which you save quite a lot opposed to purchasing from other performance shop. You can see my posted ad in the classified section if interested.
