Default Bought a 1994 sl 3000gt need help (timing belt)

Hey I am new here and I just bought a beautiful 1994 3000gt sl. I got it dirt cheap and it has a problem. I got it cheap because it looks like the timing belt jumped off of it. Under the hood where the timing belt sits there is a rip in the mat under the hood which would leave me to believe the timing belt jmped. also the top valve cover has been removed and there is no timing belt on it. i basically got it for a project even if it needs an engine pull. The guy i got it from got it at a friends. It has 80,000 miles. What do you guys think I should go about doing. Replacing the whole motor or change tmie belt or??? any help would be appreciated??

Rebuilg topend and have timing belt replaced. With these engines when the timing belt breaks the pistons hit the valves doing all sorts of damage. Just replace the top end and the timing belt. Any shop should do it for around 800.00$ well at least in New York thats what itll run ya. Hope this helps.

I would take the head off and check to see if you have bent valves or dented pistons.. or if ur really unlucky.. BOTH.
