Folks, I'm new to this site and would appreciate some advice on a steering issue. My wife drives a 2008 Eclipse GS. Great car, fun to drive, and has about 73,000 miles now. We have had the car for about 3 years now. Recently when at Idle the steering becomes stiff both left and right turns. If you rev the engine slightly it comes out of it. Driving down the road you would never know there was a problem. I have no squeaks, leaks, or noises of any kind. Power steering fluid is full. I have a power steering pump on order, and that fixes the problem. Some people say that it could be the rack. I just find that hard to believe on a car that isn't very old, etc. According NAPA auto parts they don't see any history of a rack being replaced on one of these cars, and very few pumps.
Any ideas?
