Default SRS light stays on

My husband just put in an after market stereo in my 04 Endeavor (base model) yesterday. We removed the original unit b/c the wire harness wasn't going to give us enough slack. Instead of cutting the face plate, we placed the new unit in the empty compartment at the bottom. It doesn't look bad at all and everything seems to be working well. See photo.

We were leaving to go out for dinner and noticed the SRS light is staying on. I read in other threads that there is a SRS wire? If so, does anyone know where its located, what color it is? How do we fix the SRS light? I really don't want to take it to the dealership. They're charge way to much.

Had this happen to me once. If you have an OBD II scanner, scan it and reset the code and it should make your problem disappear otherwise you'll have to go to the dealer and pay out of your pocket.

Sounds like either the airbag light was unplugged and never plugged back in, or the ignition was turned on when the airbag light was unplugged. 4never is right, you need to us a scan tool to reset the light or get it done at the dealer.

an srs light can be triggered in many different ways, nevertheless to get rid of it, it MUST be done with a scanner. No other way, other then ofcoarse splicing the wire.

You can find someone with the computer that's compatible to your model, and try removing it, but your best bet is taking it to the dealership, taking the hit and having it removed. Some dealerships will begin to ask you a lot of questions, and in some cases they may void customers warranties, because you were altering the car.

It's completely ridiculous, but then again it's a dealership, and they have to make money too.
