01 Starter Issue
My 01 ES has been having some issues as of late. Got home fine, then tried to start it again about 20 minutes later and nothing, just clicked every time the key was turned. Figuring it might be a dead battery, I tried jumping it with no success. Just more clicking. Cleaned off the battery terminals which weren't that bad to start with, and no success. Checked the water level in the battery, and it was really low. Tried another jump, and just more clicking. Figured by this point its gotta be the starter. However, I rocked the car back and forth and it finally caught and then started. I have let it run for awhile to try charging up the battery because of the low water levels. It started back up a couple times with some hesitation though. Although now the Check Engine Soon light is on.
Couple things:
1. Starter was replaced in 08, and AGAIN in 09. This car can't possibly go through starters every year can it?
2. Was able to get it to a parts store to get the engine code: P0335.
3. Where is the CKP sensor, and how would I check to see if its bad or not?
Car does start, however very reluctantly. I looked at the starter and the two connections with nuts were covered in oil, wiped them off, and still doesn't want to start right.
I think I could replace the starter, but...it looks like a major pain in the rear because of its location.
