I just purchased an 02 galant with 120k on it. It is making a popping / creaking noise when I apply the brakes. It does it when I am going straight and or turning. It is more noticeable when I am going slow or making an easy stop. It does not happen when braking hard. I had a mechanic look at it and he said that it is just body creaks but sounds like more to me. The mechanic checked the CV axle and joints and also checked tie rods and ends and everything was snug. I did notice when I was looking under the car that the rubber cover on the outer tie rod ends looked cracked but the mechanic said it was not a problem because everything was still tight.
