I don't know jack about cars soI hope someone can help me.My 96 Galant revs up and down in park without touching the gas.It goes fine in drive but when you are going at lowspeeds it wants to do the same thing.At stoplightsI have to hold the brake or it will just take off by itself. The check engine light has come on preventing me to have it pass inspection.Anyone know what this is and how much moolah i'm going to have to spend? Any answers are greatly appreciated.

 

Take it to a garage and ask them to read the malfunktion codes. There could be many reasons for what you describe.
You could try the simplest trick in the book: disconnect the battery for 15 min, connect again and start.
It´s a bit like force quitting and starting a crashed computer. Worked for me sometimes.
