Friends 01 Gallant won't Stay Running
I'm trying to help out a friend who is in a tight spot. His wife's 01 Gallant 4cyl has had continual problems with blowing the engine failure sensor on the intake. This appears to be a fuse of some sort.
Prior to me looking at it today he has replaced the PCM, o2 sensors, coils, fuel pump, alternator, cam sensor and I think the crank sensor. This is over about a years time.
The good part is that now the problem is not intermittent any longer.
I have got the engine to start but once the key is released from the start position to the run position the replacement fuse I installed temporarily will blow.
I disabled the starter so it won't crank and replaced the fuse. Had my friend turn the key to the on postion then the start position. The fuse did not blow so the problem lies with something that is activated once the engine starts. It was getting hot so I quit for the day after that test.
I will isolate the alternator later but if anyone has other suggestions they would be appreciated.
I won't be able to work on it for about a week as my friend if having more spinal disks fused in the morning.
