Has anyone been able to get the auto volume control to work on the radio? It should increase volume with speed. It's a great feature which I would like to use. My manual says I have it. Thanks

 

SOLVED! I carefully read the owners manual. You need to press the tuning button for 2 seconds to pull up a menu then press again to turn on speed volume compensation. SVC On - yea!

I got hung up before because the text calls for pressing button 4, but button 4 is a different button on various pictures.

 

Well after confirming that my speed compensated volume control was in fact on, I was unable to tell any difference. Unlike other cars where it was a dramatic and useful feature. After searching the web I found this discussion about the Mitsubishi SCV:

The SCV is designed to overcome minor road noise as well as audio inconsistencies (reduces pops etc). As I said it is about 10% increase for speed compensation.

The Mazda has a totally different system, and it's behavior is likely totally different as well.

As I mentioned before, most people do not even notice the SCV system at all. It is not comparable to most speed controlled audio systems, as that really isn't it's design. For example GM vehicles and Toyota convertibles both use a full blown speed controlled volume. You can hear a 30-40% increase in volume level to compensate for increased road noise. The SCV system in the Lancer is not comparable to these systems. It is designed for minor clarity issues in sound quality only; the idea is for it to be seamless, not dramatic like the previously mentioned vehicles.

If your unit i set to SCV on, it should be working. The odds of having just the SCV fail in the radio are extremely thin. I assume you did check the SCV setting and it is on?
