I Just came back from my Mitsu. dealer after a reacall , (they change some sensor for the airbag ) and he told my that i have too change the trasmision fluid , the car has 46000 km. and it will cost 300 $ !!

He told my that it is a special oil therfor that price , and that only they cant do it because of the warranty , is it true ? if i have to chang it can i not do it by myself ? Do enybody now how ? and what fluid to use ?.

the price they gave you is correct. the new body style lancer takes a special fluid call J3. if you put anything but that fluid in the trans you will be walking within 1 mile. yep, that quick.seen it happen. and it isnt warranty if that happens. that trans will run you $6,000. installed. there is a procedure to drain the old fluid out and putting the new fluid in. it can be done outside of the dealership, if your a trained technition, but why take the chance. too much room for error. my advice is to let the dealer do it.
