03 LTD with speedometer failure

Default 03 LTD with speedometer failure
Put in in gear one day and the speedometer isn't working. Cruise and tach work fine. No other issues. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

check the speed sensor at the back of the transmission. they're electronic so could be as simple as a bad connection or bad speed sensor. no clue what they cost though
