This is purely speculative - I'm just throwing an idea out there.

I do not know what you mean by spark plug noise - is it electrical spark type of a noise? Perhaps you have a bad spark plug wire that is shorting out. You can start you truck in the dark and look in the engine compartment to see if you notice any wires sparking to ground.

The loud clicking noise might be valve lifter slap. It usually happens on older engines when they sit without running for long time (oil drains out of the lifters). It should go away one engine warms up. There is also a procedure for bleeding trapped air out of the lifters. It has been described many times on this forum.
Yes i totally understand how it is hard to remotely diagnose it without even hearing/seeing it.

i was just asking for ideas of what it could be. I need to just get time to completely open it up and fix any issues while am in there. Its going to need the manifold gaskets replaced as they are leaking so it would be a good time to do a full tune up as well as look for any other issues. There are a bunch of wires and connectors that are not connected in the engine bay. if i post a picture would you guys be able to give me some info on what you think it goes to?

and thank you again for your help guys.

You know what they say.. A picture is worth 1000 words...

I wouldn't expect to see a bunch of random disconnected wires flapping around in the breeze in there.. Can you see where they should be connected to?

It's possible some may be for features you don't have or a different engine or something but it should be obviously tied down and neat.

That would kill your engine (a bad MAF connector).

It has the MAF connector hooked in, but its a smaller wires with a attachment on the end. I have looked all over for what it could go to but i cannot find it.

When you said kill your engine do you mean kill as in ruin or kill as in shut off?

I am still looking for that picture to show you guys.

I meant to shut it off under conditions you described. Can you post a photo of those wires.

That looks like an important wire and it also looks like someone was messing with it after the factory... Do you have the other end for that wire?
