Mitsubishi Montero & Montero Sport This sport utility vehicle offers more size than the other Mitsubishi SUVs, but manages to keep a sporty look and comfortable feel, unlike many larger SUVs.

1995 mitsubishi montero soon to be mine, hopefully.

I can't talk on the full size Montero, I have the sport. But I will tell you that this has been the most reliable auto I have owned. You have to make sure maintenance is up to date. Most notebly the timing belt - which should be changed at 60,000 mile intervals. The engine is an interference motor, which means that the pistons can and will damage the engine internals if that belt breaks.

Which engine is in that Montero? Is it the 3.0L? I can attest that the 3.0L doesn't propel the beast quickly...I haven't compared (in real life) to the 3.5L though. That is my ONLY problem with my Sport, it is slow. But that is why I have my motorcycle lol. In two years I have put about 22-24K miles and I am not sitting at 112,xxx miles.

The largest expense I have had? The timing belt, water pump, and tensioner replacement at the dealer - $1200.00...I had this done at around 90K miles. I wasn't sure if the previous owner had it done, and since my Sport was from California the first interval is set at 100K miles IIRC...every 60K afterward.

it has the 3.0. it seemed like it had plenty of power. and i'm coming from a 5.9l V8 dodge. it had a blown head gasket and the mech where its at fixed it and a few others. i think timing belt was one
