2002 Montero XLS Sunroof rear not closing up to seal
Greetings to the list.
The sunroof rear "linkage" is not popping up to seal properly.
The sunroof slides forward and backwards ok but it just doesn't pop up upon full closure.
Any suggestions, or has anybody had a similar problem, and what was the fix? Besides going to the dealer.
Many thanks, Nick A.

When all else fails, read the manual dummy....
Greetings to the glorious list and fellow members.
After some head scratching and cursing (there is a mid altitude formation of cuss words orbiting over Sacramento to this day), It was the "loose nut" behind the steering wheel being the problem all along, ahem, ME!!
Sorry for the lengthy delayed response.
You know how the sunroof (2002 Mitsubishi Montero Limited) opens to the rear and then stops. If you go forward again from that point (without sliding the sunroof ALL the way back) the linkage will not reset to pop the rear of the sunroof up when you push forward.
After the sunroof comes to the first rearward stop, you have to push it rearward again to open the sunroof opening to the maximum, THEN when you close the sunroof the rear pop up linkage resets and closes fully, popping up the rear of the sunroof to seal the opening fully.
Operator error.
Damn I'm glad I quit boozing.....
Many, most humble thanks
