Am also having a problem with my 2005 Mitsubishi Montero LTD's TPMS. About 6 months ago, I went to the dealer and they charged me $350. $150 upfront for the service and $125 for the part and $75 for installation. Now another sensor is defective and I tried going to America's Tires. They would have charged $75 only but it turns out, their equipment won't have the program to service my model.

Does anyone know of any shop that can reprogram these sensors? I've seen pricing of $150 for 4 sets of TPMS sensors.

Am just trying to avoid the dealers as they charge so much.

There is the Autel 401 reader which can clone the old sensors (use the same #'s on the new sensors) using Autel Mx sensors which are programmable. There are also OEM sensors that are pre-programmed to the vehicle but you can manually assign them the same ID(s) as the old sensors. A higher priced Autel unit can actually reprogram via. the OBD port but those are 300+ . The 401 can be had for $120 and can reprogram the mx sensors and certain OEM rated sensors ... but that is because your either clone or manually input the old sensor ID(s) to the new sensors, so the car still can expect the same ID(s) for tpms, so no programming required. Also check the spare. If the spare has tpms and is low, then it sets the idiot light also.
