Default 4:9 Regear on Stock Wheel Size

I have an 03 Mitsubishi Montero Limited with the current 4:3 rear diff gear. I’ve heard that many people switch their gears out whenever they run bigger wheels, however I have no plans to run larger rims and tires in the forseable future. However, if I were to run the different gearing on the diff, would I notice much of a difference in terms of normal driving and offroad performance with the normal size? Any negative impacts?

I’m sorry if this is a basic question but I’m not too familiar with the topic of gearing and such.
