I'm looking at buying an 89 Montero 4 door with 4wd, 5spd manual trans 194k miles. I'm interested in it because I go fishing all the time and i look pretty ridiculous driving through a cow pasture in my 98 integra. furthermore, as you can imagine, there are tons of places that are inaccesible in my tiny acura.

I will be using this as a daily driver since i only own one vehicle. What i want is a reliable truck that can get me anywhere. i don't care about the slow acceleration since i drive like a grandma anyway.

What i'm wondering is whether this montero is worth the asking price. it's listed at $3800. i'm sure the guy is willing to negotiate, but it doesn't seem like the price is even in the ballpark of what it's worth. After all, i can probably only get two grand for my acura and it's ten years younger with less miles!

Any help or advice is appreciated.

 

Out here in california an 89 montero with that many miles would go for around 1500-2000 depending on condition. Unless its in perfect condition its way over priced. Id look around alil more.
