Mitsubishi Montero & Montero Sport This sport utility vehicle offers more size than the other Mitsubishi SUVs, but manages to keep a sporty look and comfortable feel, unlike many larger SUVs.

Any high mile Montys out there??

Tks. Murphy, I will trouble shoot and see what happens. I cannot get the shop manual and the cd that I got online is just more of a parts list than anything.

Update: mine is now at 233000 miles! Going strong, smooth and quiet...just got a timing belt job and new pulleys and water pump...now it is all good...but clear coat is peeling on hood and roof and it is starting to look old and worn lol, want to get rid of it soon so I can get a newer car... But I love the truck, it is a cat in tigers clothing because it looks big and heavy but it is the easiest thing to drive! It is really nimble! The design is so perfect! I have never felt that it will roll over at higher speed turns, and the little 3.0 never felt UNDERPOWERED...though it is slow from 40-60 even at full throttle... 0-45 comes quick...but I wouldn't call it a slug, the 3.0 tries it's best to move this beast and does a decent job at it. The only con about it is that it looks a little dated in today's time but I personally still love the way it looks!

Holy cow cdvyas20 - that is nice mileage there. Nice job. Do you realize that after 5k more you would have traveled all the way to the Moon. I've got some catching up to do.

Haha I know, but my dad is the one responsible for the mileage lol, he drives a lot, we bought it used from the second owner at 162000 miles for free lol, but we had to put in a new battery and alternator at that time...

Btw what year do you have? Mileage?

New to the forum as I just bout a 05 Montero with 98k on the clock and just took it from LA to Miami the other week with no problems at all. Question... is it worth putting 91 octane in it vs. 87? Just curious as the price difference is almost 40 cents a gallon down here.

I used to put 91 in mine for a good while, and to be honest my mpg remained about the same, didn't really improve, also the performance remained the same so I just started putting 89 mid grade fuel...

I've been running 87 octane for years without any issues. I usually put in 91 when I'm towing my boat.
