a/c drain plug

Thanks from El Salvador
Thanks for all the info. I am in El Salvador so taking the montero to the mechanic can be kind of a pain. I was able to get to mine from underneath and used some 12 guage solid coperwire to unplug. It was a stuggle to get my hand that far up but it is doable

Problem has come back
So I have unplugged the drain line a few times now and keeps getting plugged. Mechanic says he needs to pull entire system apart which is a 1-3 day job. I am in El Salvador so 20 hour job is about $200. Any thoughts on weather I should have it pulled apart and cleaned

So this is probably a stupid question but here it goes....does the radiator have to be hooked up in order to do this? I have no coolant in the system right now because I had a leak from this a/c drain. I didn't want to put the coolant into my new radiator bc I was afraid it would just leak...but it seems it's just water coming out of the a/c drain? It doesn't leak with no coolant in my radiator. I tried to stick a cable tie through it but it didn't do anything so I'm thinking i have to have coolant in my radiator?

It's always best to ask if you're not 100% sure.
The water coming from the A/C system is in no way connected to your coolant/ radiator. The water in your A/C system is actually condensate (a by product) from the heat exchanger (part of the A/C system).
Your radiator is a completely different system.
Your A/C system will not generate any condensate unless it is (A) working and (B) turned on. If the A/C drain isn't plugged there will also not be any water when you clean it out.
If you don't have coolant in your radiator due to a leak then the leak is in your radiator and not in your A/C system. Unfortunately a car can run without AC but it can't run (for long) without coolant.
I hope this helps.
