A/C issue
I just bought an 1989 montero yesterday. I sent it out to get the a/c recharged because it was only moderately cold and I saw bubbles in the sight glass. The mechanic said the system was contaminated with both R12 and 134. What idiot did that I don't know. They won't touch it and suggest a new compressor. I do just about all of my own servicing and wonder
1. Do i really need a new compressor or can I run with evacing the system and recharging
2. If I do need a new compressor is it something the home mechanic can do(minus recharging the A/C)
3. Have any suggestions where I can get a used, refurb, aftermarket or OEM replacement. And what version do you suggest I go with. I'm leaning toward a used OEM
