I have a 2001, Montero sport ES with 117k miles, check engine light is not working and it is not the bulb, Have a feeling that the place i bought from may have disabled it intentionally, I have checked all the fuses and they are all good but there are some that are missing and I can't find a diagram that tells me what they are, can anyone please give me some direction

 

You need to find your ECU pinout diagram. Maybe look through a manual like Haynes or Chiltons to find that.

There is a certain pin on the ECU that pertains to the check engine light. When you remove it or cut the wire, you eliminate the light.

 

ok is there a fuse for the ecu, my fuse box diagram not showing one and i have not been able to find a book anywhere locally

 

No, there is not.

Look online for a service manual, you should be able to find one.

 

ty, found a wiring diagram online and traced out the problem, you were right was a clipped wire under the dash that was very well hidden. Now i can work on the the rest of the problems in a new thread
