Clicking at idle
Recently bought an impressively clean one owner 01 montero limited with the 3.5, 120k
Did the timing belt kit from luso last week, tensioner, idlers + revised crank bolt, and plan on doing atf and more maintenance to keep it nice but I can't help but notice this slight clicking from what seems to be near the oil pan ONLY at idle. The sound is not super solid sounding but somewhat consistent once the vehicle is warm (quiet when cold) and does not make any loud or louder noises throughout the rpm even under load and free revs.
From what I remember it's made this "noise" since I got it and is not louder, best explanation is almost a diesel engine sound. No check engine, runs great, good power, oil not gunky and just did an oil change today with 10w-30 Valvoline which I use religiously in both of my 2g eclipses and never had issues. Used oil was somewhat dirty but no flakes glitter or pieces. oil change sticker said it was good until 124k and had 5w30 Castrol full synthetic but I wanted to do my own for good measure.
Looking for some peace of mind maybe I'm just paranoid but i absolutely love this montero and want it to last as long as possible without major maintenance.
Thickening oil slightly with oil stabilizer hasn't changed anything
Also somewhere online I read that it's can be common that the #6 rod bearing fails which was not making me feel better lol but I haven't seen a lot of posts about it unless I'm missing them. Is it something I should be concerned about?
