electrical: door lock,intermittant workee
QUESTION
.Does anyone know how to loosen the large black grommet on the door cabin pillar where the wire harness enters so I can re tape the torn section to give it more stability? Does it just pull out like any of the small rubber grommets do?
Heres the story incase its helpful.
just the other day I started noticing the door ajar light and the door clearance light started binking off and on. I noticed the wire harness going from the drivers door to the dash was loose where it enters the cabin/door pillar through a glorified rubber boot/grommet.
It appears the factory taping of the harness where it enters the grommet has ripped and the harness is less stable allowing opening and shutting of the door to move the harness enough to make those lights act up.
Now Im guessing that that may be the reason the door locks gave me a problem last nov.until
While driving it would start multiple clicking (the sound of lock and unlocking on its own) then blows a fuse.
I gave up on it back in Nov 2016 since I couldnt find any evidence of a short where I could easily see in the engine compartment and under the dash.
