Default A few random questions

1. So I bought my 2001 montero limited with 113,000 miles and I’m at 187,000. I curious as to how important it is to change the differential fluids? There are no problems with their performance but I doubt they have ever been done. How about the brake/ power steering fluid?

2.I’ve heard a million times it’s best to leave the tranny fluid alone if it’s doing ok (it is) but what about swapping out filter and keeping the old fluid? Would that be good preventative maintenance?

3. One more trivial one: my heated seat switches light up but no heat. Is there a relay/switch between the push button switch and the heating element?

im surprised how many people talk **** about 3rd gen monteros. I love mine. Best ride ever.

thx much

it would be worthwhile changing all the fluids now.

Brake fluid needs to be changed every 2 years.

Diff and transfer case oils every 90000kms

Trans oil every 90000/100000 kms.. no point doing a filter unless doing oil at same time. There is no scheduled time for the filter.

Make sure you use the correct oil for the trans. It will be printed on the gearbox dipstick handle
