Mitsubishi Montero & Montero Sport This sport utility vehicle offers more size than the other Mitsubishi SUVs, but manages to keep a sporty look and comfortable feel, unlike many larger SUVs.

Default First Time Montero Sport Owner

Hi Gang,

Glad to be a part of the forum. I just bought a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport and I love it so far. It has 84K miles and was pretty much pampered. I think when the previous owner changed the tires they went the cheap route. The size on it now are 225/70/16. I do not know why anyone would ever go smaller than stock. My Montero has the fender flares and I would like to put 265/75/16 on it. Does anyone know if these will fit without clearance problems. I read one post that mentioned this may work but I would like to hear some more opinions before I spend the $$$. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

A 265/75/16 tire is roughly equal to 31.5" which is more than enough room to clear your fenders. I've got 265/75/16 Khumo's on my Montero Sport though my truck is lifted about 1.5" front and back. Prior to that, i was running 31/10.5/15's without clearance issues at all with plenty of room to spare- while at the standard ride height.

THX FOR THE INFO. YOUR MONTERO LOOKS SWEET. ILIKE IT A LOT. MINE IS NOT LIFTED BUT I THINK THOSE TIRES WILL LOOK AND FEEL A LOT BETTER. HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY PER TIRE FOR THE KUHMO'S? I HAD KUHMO'S ON A PREVIOUS CAR I HAD AND I LIKED THEM.

I don't remember the price exactly, but i got them from TireRack.com . I saved alot of money by being able to install them myself so that was also a plus. I've put about 25K miles on em and they still look meaty.
