On my 95 LS I let it idle for five minutes, then drove it for the same, over the next day it figures itself out, I have not had to use the official method, with the special tool. Have to let it run for a bit, if you simply turn it off it'll stay the same.

At first i would go around a turn and hit the brakes and it would die. Unhooked my battery, turn on ignition for 10 seconds then turn off. cold start let it warm up to normal temp for 15 minutes. Turn it off then back on. Idle in park for 3 minutes then with the brake on idle in drive for 3 minutes. All of that and still in drive when slowing down it woul drop to under 500rpm. I drove it for a couple days and It has worked itself out. Now it idled around 1000rpm.

Default Throttle Body issues

I replaced my throttle body with aftermarket one from China. The dealer wanted around $1100.00 O’Reiley’s wanted just about the same.
I paid $240 including shipping.
Installed it and it immediately worked fine. Then the Montero set for about 6 months. Now when I turn the vehicle on, it begins its idle very high. (15-
1800 rpm’s. It won’t accelerate past 3000 rpm’s
Once the vehicle is warm then I can unplug the pigtail to the TB , shut the truck off and Re plug the pigtail into the TB
Turn the vehicle back on it runs perfect.
My question is this. Do you have to use a scanner to relearn the throttle body?
Maybe the cheaper throttle body is the problem?
Anyone else have this experience?
