Default Montero 2002 engine swap

Hi guys, thanks for letting me in. I was wondering what the difference between a 2000 3.0 and a 2002 3.0 is ? they are both sports. The motor is smoked in my 2002, and a ran across a strong 3.0 out of a 2000 sport. It looks like the long blocks are the same, but interchange says they are different. 8th digit on both vins say H. Any ideas would be great ! Thanks

ok. So you want to put a 6g72 in a vehicle designed for a 6g72.
What was the question?

The Hollander interchange guide says they are not interchangeable, anyone selling a 3.0 says engine interchange stops at 2001, and will not swap with a 2002, I was wondering why before I get in to it.

huh. I wonder if thats ecu related,
your only thing, if youre doing the swap yourself, go have a look, check engine mount positions, bellhousing size and shape. It will be pretty obvious if it wont fit.

It is the same block, casting # is the same for the heads on both blocks. I would think if I swapped all the accessories, intake and even the manifolds and sensors it should work. the casting wouldn't be different for the trans or motor mounts. Unless there are different holes drilled for sensors, water passages, or emissions, I don't see a difference. I just don't want to get 4/5ths in to into it, and then have that WHAT THE &%@# !!! moment !

why bother swapping accesories? Or were you hoping to only buy the motor as a long block?

Wtf moments happen, regardless of how well planned.
