Question oil pressure sending unit for a 1999 Montero Sport

Hi. I am looking for an oil pressure sending unit for a 1999 Montero Sport LS model, 6G72 engine. This SUV came with the gauge cluster on top of the dash. Those gauges are voltmeter, compass and engine oil pressure. I have been told that the oil sender must be a specific one since it control the oil pressure light and the needle oil pressure gauge. I want to know which one is the correct sender. Everytime the engine acceletares ( when air compressor is turned on or when beginning to push the pedal) the oil light lits dimly for a moment and the needle gauge on top of the dash doesn't work.
I am asking because when you go to ebay, there are different models and shapes, the hole is big or narrow, and want to know which is the correct one, either OEM or replacement with part number.
Any comments are welcome

Have you checked the wire connection to the sender to make sure it's tight and not corroded?

If you still want to replace the sender either try a NAPA parts store (they seem to have fairly accurate parts lists) or better yet buy on line from www.mitsubishiparts.com They have good discounts on OEM parts and will get you the correct part specific to your VIN.

But check the wiring, it's hard to imagine why a sender would fail momentarily under acceleration and be fine the rest of the time.

I checked all the wiring and apparently everything is OK. What I wonder is that the oil sender it has only one connection to control two things, the oil pressure icon in the main gauge panel; and the needle oil pressure gauge on top of the gauge.

jrmdir, i'll check the info you gave me, thanks.

mxmikie, that one is too big because it hits (I think) the AC bracket.

I've bought 2 additional ones, one Beck arnley and the other don't recall, pretty similar to the original one. The one I don't recall it's brand name also has a ground screw in front of it. This one hits the oil gauge needle all the way to the right and lits the oil lamp also. The Beck Arnley doesn't even move the gauge needle. Both senders have one thing in common, the hole where the oil enters the sender is bigger than the original one. I've told that this makes a difference.

The last thing to do is to buy the original OEM sender. Thanks .
