Default Noise when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd gear when excelerating.
I have a 03 Montero Ltd with 101,000 miles. I've noticed that while excelerating, a "thrapping" noise while the engine is downshifting from 3rd to 2dn gear. I back off immediately and the noise goes away.

Is the clutch going out in the transmission or some other horrible problem?

Please help! I love my Monty!
